Visa requirements for foreign students studying in Singapore.
Admission into International Schools in Singapore required adherence to the country’s legislation regarding student Visa’s. There are two main Visa’s which freighn born students use to access the Singapore International School environment.
1. Children studying Singpaore on the basis of their parents Work pass.
The Dependent Pass is available to the spouse and unmarried children of a work pass holder. Work pass holders include EntrePass, Employment Pass (EP), Personalised Employment Pass (PEP) and S Pass holders. The pass is not necessarily issued to step-children and a student pass is often required in this instance.
Children holding a dependent pass may opt to study at any of the more than 1000 Private Education Institutions on the island.
2. Children studying in Singapore without a parent holding a work pass.
Many families recognize the leading role Singapore plays in delivering world-class educational solutions. These families may opt for their children to study in Singapore independent of the employment situation of the parents This will require the application of a student pass. This pass is issued based on the basis of the child first being accepted to the educational institution and allows for one guardian in the form of the mother or maternal grandmother to accompany this child in his/her studies in Singapore.
To apply for a Student’s Pass, you must be accepted into an approved full-time course in Singapore. Part-time courses and courses conducted in the evening or on weekends are not eligible.
All foreign born applicants aged 12 years 0 day or below, are required to submit their vaccination information to Health Promotion Board (HPB) w.e.f. 1 Feb 2019.
